a-n degree show takeover 2019: DJCAD

#andegreeshowtakeover by @fk.art Hello all! It's not only been a year since my last takeover for a-n, but a year since my own degree show at DJCAD. Nothing feels more like stepping back into the action than Finlay J Hall's @loonbeams work – a loosely curated collection of art student ephemera, detailing workshops, performances, clubs, events, radio stations and other miscellaneous creative activity. Contrasting the pristinely presented work found in other parts of the show, Hall's installation provides a vital glimpse behind the scenes to an experimental, collectively-minded and slightly less serious take on the art school experience. #andegrees19 #duncanofjordanstone #djcad #djcaddegreeshow #dundee #contemporaryart #fineart #scotland

they had 4 years 2019

GENERATORprojects‘ annual group exhibition, They Had 4 Years, features newly commissioned work by recent graduates across Scotland. TH4Y 2019 features six emerging artists from The Glasgow School of Art, Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, and Edinburgh College of Art and aims to provide a supportive platform in which the artists can continue to develop their craft whilst gaining an invaluable insight into exhibiting outside of an educational environment. The pairing of the selected artists intends to create an exciting discourse about the complex relationships between the human and the domestic space and the interactions with the objects found within.

#instagramtakeover by @fk.art ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Hi everyone – FK McLoone back with another takeover, this time covering Aberdeen’s Look Again festival @lookagainfest ! There’s a lot packed into this visual art weekender (which runs until Sunday 17th June) but the festival team has been wonderful in helping me navigate the must-see events, installations and exhibitions. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings, but until then, here’s some highlights from what I’ve been up to! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #lookagainfestival #lookagain2018 #aberdeen #scotland #contemporaryart #seriousplay #graysschoolofart #graysdegreeshow #publicart #installationart #sculpture #design

a-n degree show takeover 2018: glasgow school of art

#andegreeshowtakeover by @fk.art ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ FK McLoone here again, this time to share some highlights from the degree show at Glasgow School of Art. The MFA show takes place off-campus at the Glue Factory – an unusual space which students have utilised every part of, including the girls' bathrooms, where multimedia artist Elina Bry @elle.bry hums a tune from within the walls. Bry's sound, video and performance works describe experiences of medical anxiety, centring on the ritual of singing to herself to control her heartbeat. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #andegrees18 #gsadegreeshow #mfagsa2018 #glasgowschoolofart #degreeshow2018 #elinabry #performanceart #videoart #soundart

#andegreeshowtakeover by @fk.art Hi! I'm FK McLoone, and I'll be covering the DJCAD degree show in Dundee for a-n today. Starting with where I fit in to all this – you can find my own work among my Fine Art coursemates at the top of the Crawford building. My work, which looks at the unremarkably modern aesthetics of the shopping centre, sits alongside the gruesome yet fascinating soft sculpture of @rachelmccreadie_ and the lively poetry and performance of @oddanw (Dan O'Dempsey). Stay tuned for some more cross-disciplinary work from DJCAD's Contemporary Art Practice courses! #andegrees18 #djcad #djcaddegreeshow #contemporaryart #sculpture #performance #installationart #dundee #scotland
