Fieldwork explores the anxieties hidden in our attempts (and failures) to connect with nature. Contrasting romantic notions and personal identification with the natural landscape against an analytical gaze that seeks to interpret, classify and define it, the work questions the limits of knowledge – of nature, of science and of ourselves. Issues of emotional projection and detachment are similarly investigated through performative self-portraiture, while 2D and 3D assemblage expresses the fragmented, subjective perspectives at play.
Fieldwork and Clearly were created for and first exhibited as part of Swing It Shake It Move It Make It (who do u think u r?) at GENERATORprojects, Dundee.
